Research
My current research focus is on supporting the Center to Stream Healthcare In Place (C2SHIP). This is an NSF-funded Industry-University Cooperative Research Center with six academic sites and many industry partners. C2SHIP promotes industry, academia, and government partnerships to develop innovative technologies for a decentralized healthcare model. This Care In Place model supports healthcare delivery where people live, work, and play, which enables more personalized management of chronic health conditions and real-time medical care to remote areas.
C2SHIP at MU especially focuses on supporting older adults. Building on a rich history of research to help older adults and others with physical and cognitive challenges, our diverse team works together to develop new healthcare technologies, driven by actual clinical needs, and evaluates them in realistic settings. Research strengths include biomedical sensing, machine learning, health informatics, and cybersecurity. We follow the mission of the multi-site C2SHIP Center to engage academic and industrial partners in joint efforts to develop new technologies and accelerate innovation.
